The veterinary team at Joel Vets are all highly qualified and dedicated to providing you with the best possible care for your pets. Our team consists of:

Vets

   
Amy Rubio   Amy Rubio MRCVS
Clinical Director
Amy graduated in the University of Murcia in Spain in 2008. She worked in small animal practice in Spain before moving to London and spent a year teaching at the Royal Veterinary College and designing new Anatomy Learning Resources. After that, she started working full time in small animal practice in London, and has worked sole charge in small practices as well as part of a team in large hospitals. She started working at Joel Vets in September 2014 and is currently studying towards a Postgraduate Certificate in Diagnostic Imaging. Her main interests are diagnostic imaging, surgery and small furries. Amy has a rescued mischievous rabbit called Dennis.
   
Kelly Brown   Kelly Brown - BVetMed, MRCVS AFHEA
Veterinary Surgeon
Kelly graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2009. She lives in Berkshire with her husband and her cat Minion. She enjoys all aspects of small animal practice with a particular interest in Small Animal Internal Medicine. She also has an interest in teaching and is also a clinical coach to our veterinary nurse students. In her spare time she enjoys baking cakes, she is also a keen dancer and takes classes in Irish Set Dancing and Bhangra.
   
Natasha Gauer   Natasha Gauer - MRCVS
Veterinary Surgeon
Natasha graduated from Cambridge University in 2003 and joined us in December 2005. She currently works part time after the birth of her second child and normally works on Tuesday mornings and Thursday mornings. She has a special interest in Small Animal Internal Medicine.
   
Lindsey Hodes   Lindsey Hodes - MRCVS
Veterinary Surgeon
Lindsey qualified from Bristol University in 1997 and started working at Joel vets in 2001. She has been working part time since having her two children, and currently works on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Her interests are canine and feline medicine and anything to do with rabbits and other small furries!
   
Estella Kittel   Estella Kittel - MRCVS
Veterinary Surgeon
Estella qualified from Edinburgh University in 1985 and started working at Joel Vets in 1998. She works part time ever since she had her two children, and currently works on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Her main interests are soft tissue surgery and internal medicine.
   
Emily Schmaltz   Emily Schmalz - BVetMed MRCVS
Veterinary Surgeon
Emily was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago and completed a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Psychology from Carroll University in 2011. She then began her transatlantic adventure to study at the Royal Veterinary College where she graduated in 2015, and started working at Joel Vets in November 2015. She enjoys travelling and has seen practice all over the UK and she volunteered at a spay / neuter clinic in Portugal after graduating. In her free time, she enjoys reading, yoga and watching murder mystery TV shows. She also loves spending time with her fluffy American Eskimo dog Cosmo.

Visiting Orthopaedic Surgeon
Nicci holds a post-graduate certificate in Small Animal Surgery and currently works as a visiting orthopaedic surgeon.
   
Nurses  
Andrea Chambers   Andrea Chambers
Practice Manager / Head Nurse
Andrea has been working as a veterinary nurse since 1991 and qualified from Berkshire College in 1996. She joined the clinic in 2000 and is now also the Practice Manager as well as Head Nurse. She has a keen interest in radiography and nutrition, and outside work she loves horse riding, running and going to the cinema.
   
Simone Mitchell   Simone Mitchell
Veterinary Nurse Student
Simone is a very dedicated Student Veterinary Nurse from the lovely Gold Coast of Australia. Her main interests are caring for animals that need medical attention and building bonds to make visiting the vets a little more comforting. Outside of work she enjoys travelling, sports and spending quality time with friends and family, including her lovely re-homed cat Wispa.
   
Samantha Chipman   Samantha Chipman
Veterinary Nurse Student
Sam has lived in Devon her entire life and moved to London to pursue her dream of becoming a Veterinary Nurse. Once she is qualified she would like to continue training to achieve a Diploma in Advanced Veterinary Nursing (Surgical). Samantha doesn’t have any pets of her own but is always willing to foster animals for charity when needed. Outside of work she enjoys walking, reading, going to the cinema and having a up of tea with biscuits!
   
Receptionists
Julie Cockburn   Julie Cockburn
Julie has worked at Joel Vets as a receptionist since 2003. She currently works part time dividing her time between work and her busy home life including being a grandmother. She is the proud owner of golden retriever Fergus!
     
Kirsty McCallan   Kirsty McCallan
Kirsty joined the clinic in May 2011. She is currently working here part time dividing her days between work and looking after her three dogs and two cats. She also helps run dog training classes in Bovingdon.
     
Gill Fabbri   Gill Fabbri
Gill works as a part time receptionist. She has a very handsome dog called Crumble. She loves taking him for long walks every day and he loves playing with his friends and getting up to a lot of mischief!. She also loves spending time with her family and making sure everyone has a good laugh!
   
Practice Cat
Carra Carter   Ginge
Ginge joined the team as a stray in 2013 and decided to stay at Joel Vets. He currently prowls the clinic and likes to eat vets for breakfast!
